Mac Quayle
Emmy-winning composer of Mr. Robot, His & Hers, Monster: The Ed Gein Story and The Beauty

Emmy-winning, GRAMMY and BAFTA-nominated composer Mac Quayle has spent his career moving between worlds most composers never connect, from the dance floor to the darkest corners of prestige television. His approach to composition has left an indelible mark on acclaimed projects such as Mr. Robot, American Horror Story, and Leave the World Behind. Upcoming projects include season 2 of Apple TV+'s Dark Matter.
Mac first worked with director and longtime collaborator Sam Esmail on the Golden Globe-winning series Mr. Robot, for which he received a Primetime Emmy. Their partnership continued with the mini-series Gaslit (2022), starring Julia Roberts and Sean Penn, and Leave the World Behind (2023), starring Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke.
His long-running collaboration with show creator and director Ryan Murphy spans some of television's most talked-about projects, including The Beauty, starring Evan Peters; Monster: The Ed Gein Story, starring Charlie Hunnam; Pose, starring Billy Porter; The Politician, starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Platt; Ratched, starring Sarah Paulson; and American Horror Story: Freak Show and Feud, which earned him three Emmy nominations combined. He also co-composed the 9-1-1 franchise, including 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Lone Star and 9-1-1: Nashville, alongside Todd Haberman and Justin Burnett.
Mac has written music for over 40 diverse films, television shows, and documentaries. Notable credits include Netflix's His & Hers, starring Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal; HBO's documentary Surveilled, directed by Matthew O'Neill and Perri Peltz and starring Ronan Farrow; HBO's The Great Lillian Hall, directed by Michael Cristofer and starring Kathy Bates, Pierce Brosnan and Jessica Lange; FX's American Crime Story: Impeachment, starring Sarah Paulson, Annaleigh Ashford and Sterling K. Brown; and Matt Fuller's documentary Autism in Love, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. His work as additional composer for Cliff Martinez can also be heard in HBO's Emmy-winning The Normal Heart, as well as Drive, Contagion and Spring Breakers.
Before establishing himself as a composer, Mac built an equally impressive career as a producer, remixer, and keyboardist, working across more than 300 releases and scoring 40 number one Billboard Dance hits. Among those, his production of Donna Summer's "I Will Go with You" earned him a GRAMMY nomination, one of many highlights from a body of work that spans Madonna, Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, Depeche Mode, Britney Spears, Elvis Presley, Annie Lennox, New Order and Sting. He has been awarded numerous Gold and Platinum records throughout his career.
When asked about his career highlights, Mac responded, "I have been very fortunate to work with so many talented people over the years. However, there is one special moment that stands out for me: playing ping pong with Peter Gabriel at Real World Studios."
Mac lives, works, and plays ping pong in the mountains near Los Angeles.
