Vance Marino and his wife, Tracey Marino, are a music writing team. Since 2005, they have written and
produced more than 3,000 songs and instrumentals, and their music is heard daily around the world.
Among their specialties are composing upbeat, positive music, and hybrid genres.
Some of their favorite placements include: the Disney/Touchstone film “The Last Song”, several
Hallmark Channel movies, the 2021 CBS movie “A Christmas Proposal,” Saturday Night Live, “The
Tonight Show,” “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “The Dr. Oz Show,” “Trisha’s Southern Kitchen,” “The Kelly
Clarkson Show,” “Southern Charm,” “The Voice,” “Forged In Fire”, many HGTV shows, hundreds of NFL
and other sports games and shows, and nationwide commercials. Their song “I Like Nightmares” was
licensed for SkullTroniX animated skeletons on YouTube and has over 500,000 views.
The Marinos have been moderators, panelists, or guest lecturers at music schools such as Musicians
Institute College of Contemporary Music and UCLA Extension Music Business, as well as for major music
organizations’ events such as the Society of Composers and Lyricists SongArts, Production Music
Association’s Conference, Hawaii Songwriting Festival, Durango Songwriter’s Expo, What Up Pitches
WUP IT UP Sync Fiesta, Taxi Road Rally, HMMA MIMI Sym Conference, among others.
Since 2012, the Marinos have been the NSAI San Diego Chapter Coordinators. Inspired by the curiosity
and questions from their chapter’s attendees, they realized that many songwriters have no idea how to
write music for the sync music world, so they decided to share their knowledge in a book. Published by
major music publisher Rowman & Littlefield/Backbeat Books, “Hey! That’s My Song! A Guide to Getting
Music Placements in Film, TV, and Media,” is available at most booksellers.
