Bibi Club Shares Powerful New Single + Video: “Washing Machine”

The duo Bibi Club (Adèle Trottier-Rivard and Nicolas Basque) unveils their striking new single “Washing Machine,” out now via Secret City Records, alongside a music video directed by Anna Arrobas. The first English single from their forthcoming album Amaro, out February 27th, “Washing Machine” transforms grief into movement, reminding us that light and sorrow can coexist.

A Song About Love, Loss, and Memory

Bibi Club explains the meaning behind the track:

"The anomaly. This song is a homage to Tobie, who loved washing machines, the way they rush in and spin in every direction. It’s also a reflection on our experience as parents and the visceral bonds that connect us to our children. The song is full of light and life despite its underlying grief, the guitars dance together, the keyboard pulses with life, it's energetic, even danceable. It evokes the short passage on Earth of a child who left a vivid, powerful mark on everyone who loved him."

The emotional weight of the song is balanced by an energetic sound, this is a reminder that even in the darkest moments, life can still move in surprising, beautiful ways.

A New Chapter: Amaro

On their third album Amaro, Bibi Club explores grief, fear, and the “dark beasts” that live beneath the surface. The record is rooted in the mantra: “I want to love, I want to live.” Following the loss of two loved ones in the past year, the duo leans into healing through music, community, and nature.

Inspired by memorable artistic encounters, tours with Blonde Redhead and Circuit des Yeux, and a collaboration with Calvin Johnson, Bibi Club now reveals itself through avant-pop and electronic body music with elements of dark wave and neofolk, simultaneously borrowing from baroque sounds with harpsichords, trumpets, and ritual chants to be learned by heart. Supported by a caring community, including saxophonist and activist Dimitri Milbrun (George Sand) and singer-songwriter Helena Deland (A Different Light), Amaro allows Bibi Club to define itself in both intimate and collective terms.
