Silva Screen Records has unveiled the original television soundtrack for The Guest, the acclaimed UK thriller that recently made its US debut on Paramount+. Composed by BAFTA-nominated Blair Mowat, the score is now available on all major digital music platforms.
The Guardian has praised The Guest as “a gloriously ridiculous thriller that slips down a treat,” and the show has quickly garnered attention for its gripping psychological tension. The series follows the volatile relationship between Ria (Gabrielle Creevy), a cleaner, and her enigmatic employer, Fran (Eve Myles). What begins as a seemingly harmless connection evolves into a dangerous, obsessive entanglement, fueled by secrets and shifting power dynamics. As their lives become increasingly intertwined, the story spirals into a perilous psychological cat-and-mouse game.
Mowat’s score deepens the show’s sense of mystery and emotional complexity. “THE GUEST was a project I truly loved composing for,” he shares.
“The creative team encouraged collaboration and invention, which let me lean fully into the show’s themes of class and social mobility. I wanted Ria’s experience of Fran’s world to feel exotic and aspirational, so her first tour of the house is scored with reed flute, steel drums, and unusual percussion - playful, enticing colours that draw her into a world she’s never known.”
Expanding on his creative process, Mowat continues, “That palette runs throughout the show, joined by female vocals (sung by Sophy Purnell) and a Cristal Baschet I commissioned specifically for the project. Its glassy, ethereal tones were stretched and manipulated to create sensual, ambiguous atmospheres that hint at friendship, rivalry, or even romance between the two leads as the story keeps you guessing.
The score is deliberately hybrid: analogue synths and pulsing beats woven with solo strings, guitar, and other organic textures. This blend mirrors the balance of sincerity and artifice between Fran and Ria. Transforming acoustic instruments electronically became a way of reflecting the masks each character wears.
Early conversations with our writer and executive producer Matthew Barry gave me a clear sense of the emotional undercurrents, and that trust carried through the whole process. I’m proud of how the music adds a subtle but meaningful layer to a show that’s sophisticated and quietly powerful. As someone who loves soundtracks, I shaped the album with real care so it would stand on its own, and I hope listeners enjoy the score as much as I enjoyed creating it.”
With nearly two decades of experience and over 200 scores across film, television, and theatre, Blair Mowat has become one of the most sought-after composers in the UK. His work spans collaborations with the English National Ballet, the Royal Shakespeare Company, the BBC, and StudioCanal. Mowat earned a BAFTA nomination for his score for Russell T Davies’s Nolly and won the Camille Award for Best TV Score in Europe. His recent and upcoming projects include the documentary The Age of Disclosure and the thriller After the Flood, returning for a second series in 2026.
The Guest soundtrack is now available to stream worldwide.
