The experimental classical project Flore Laurentienne returns with Volume III, the latest album from composer Mathieu David Gagnon, which arrived on April 10th via Secret City Records.
Serving as the final installment in the project’s Volume series, the release marks both a continuation and a transition in Gagnon’s evolving compositional language.
Volume III centers on cycles of growth and transformation, drawing inspiration from natural processes and the shifting relationship between structure and fluidity.
Across the album, Flore Laurentienne explores the balance between order and spontaneity, combining composed material with a sense of organic development that unfolds gradually over time.
The result is a work that reflects a broader search for harmony within complexity.

Blending strings with analog synthesizers, Gagnon continues to refine a sound that bridges classical composition and contemporary minimalism.
The album builds on earlier releases while maintaining a clear throughline in its artistic vision, music that remains expressive, direct, and grounded in a human sensibility.
Pre-release singles, including “Régate,” “Fleuve VII,” and “(À travers les) Chablis,” offer an early glimpse into the album’s tonal and structural direction.
In recent years, Flore Laurentienne’s work has extended beyond traditional music spaces, appearing in film and fashion contexts.
Selections from the project are featured in the César-winning film Nino, directed by Pauline Loquès and starring Théodore Pellerin, while “Petit piano” from Volume I was included in Louis Vuitton's spring-summer 2026 campaign featuring Jeremy Allen White.

While Volume III concludes the trilogy that began with Volume I, the project continues to evolve in both scope and presence.
Rooted in the landscapes of Québec and influenced by a range of musical traditions, from Johann Sebastian Bach to King Crimson, Flore Laurentienne maintains a compositional approach that merges structure, atmosphere, and experimentation.
