Jai’Len Josey Returns with Bold New Single “Housewife” Ahead of Debut Album Serial Romantic

Atlanta-based singer-songwriter, musician, and Broadway star Jai’Len Josey is back with a provocative new single, “Housewife,” via Def Jam Recordings, setting the stage for her highly anticipated debut album, Serial Romantic, executive produced by five-time GRAMMY® Award-winner Tricky Stewart. The single is available now to stream here.
“Housewife” blends cinematic handclaps, sweeping strings, and airy keys with a glossy, revved-up groove, showcasing Josey’s vocal range from playful confidence to tender vulnerability. The track flips traditional notions of domesticity into something modern and self-assured, exploring love and intimacy on a woman’s own terms.
Speaking on the single, Jai’Len shares:
“‘Housewife’ is a song about reclaiming domestication on a woman’s own terms. It challenges the idea that women exist to be displayed, possessed, or rewarded as trophies. Instead, submission is reframed as a choice. Something a woman may give when she wants, to whom she chooses, and only if they are worthy. I started the production and later added GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Noah Ehler (“Luther”, GNX) to fill in the blanks to create the masterpiece you hear today.”
The release follows the success of her previous singles, including October’s “Won’t Force You,” which amassed over half a million streams and earned praise from Billboard as a “Freshest Find” and from Rated R&B for its heartfelt, acoustic-driven storytelling. 2025’s “Freak” drew acclaim for its bold, sultry energy, while “New Girl” captivated listeners as a “summer-ready” anthem, with VIBE highlighting her infectious new sound.

Jai’Len Josey first made her mark on Broadway as “Pearl” in The SpongeBob Musical: Live on Stage! before releasing her independent Illustrations EP in 2020. Signing with Def Jam Recordings, she gained further momentum with the 2023 SOUTHERN DELICACY EP, which drew critical acclaim from Rated R&B, YouKnowIGotSoul, ESSENCE GirlsUnited, and Okayplayer. She has also co-written tracks for Ari Lennox’s gold-certified album Age/Sex/Location and toured as support for Lennox.
