North-West London artist Qendresa steps into 2026 with a quietly magnetic release, unveiling her new double single “Rain in July” / “Be The One,” out now via Dream City Discs.
Both tracks arrive alongside a single animated visual directed by Sofire, with animation by Liffia, a soft, pastel-toned world that mirrors the emotional pull of the music itself.
Written and produced by Qendresa, the two tracks feel like fragments of the same emotional landscape, one shaped by memory, distance, and the quiet persistence of love that refuses to fully fade.
There’s a subtle intimacy to both songs: understated R&B textures, gentle synths, and a sense of stillness that feels almost physical. It’s the sound of a late-night apartment, of rain against windows, of thoughts you can’t quite silence.
Rather than retreat from that vulnerability, Qendresa leans into it, delivering each line with a soft but unwavering clarity, as if saying the feeling out loud might bring it back to life.
She explains:
“I wrote these songs about a love that was slowly slipping away. Intergalactic heartbreak songs with otherworldly synths and haunting memories picking apart every word they said…”
The accompanying video expands that emotional space into a visual, narrative driven form. Directed by Sofire, the animation follows a woman suspended in longing, caught between memory, desire, and imagination.
Sofire describes the concept in full:
“I wanted to create something that all divine ladies would relate to, something for the inner city chicks, something for my sensual sisters. That’s what Qendresa’s music makes me feel … seen. ‘Rain in July’ took me to hot summer evenings, when the rain breaks through and having to deal with an ex on the phone, that won’t leave the mind. ‘Be the One’ had a lot of movement for me, got me thinking of a long drive to a lover in golden hour, so this is what I went with storyline wise. As I was privileged to create Q’s iconic album artwork for ‘Midnight Request Line’ I also wanted to bring this character to life, to give her some context and let her be the star of the show.

Heavily inspired by London living, bittersweet evenings and to carry the mood of Q’s seductive vocals. I grew up being a massive fan of GTA, ‘80s anime and female lead comics like Tank Girl. This music video was a homage to everything that created SOFIRE and my feminine view point.
This video wouldn’t have come to life without Olivia ‘Liffia’ who turned my 62 stills into a moving piece of art. So much talent and gratitude for the chance to work together on this.”
Raised in North-West London, Qendresa’s sound reflects the city’s layered musical identity. Her work pulls from R&B, hip-hop, grime, and electronic soul, while nodding to icons like Sade and Mariah Carey. At the same time, her presence has already caught attention across scenes, earning co-signs from Lil Yachty, Drake, and Deftones, while her music has appeared in campaigns for Prada, Raf Simmons, Miu Miu, and Carhartt.
It’s that blend, personal yet expansive, intimate yet culturally fluent, that makes her work resonate.

“Rain in July” / “Be The One” doesn’t try to overwhelm; it lingers.
It’s music about the in-between: not quite heartbreak, not quite closure. Just the quiet echo of something that once was, still moving through you.
