Xn0rmL Releases You, Me and the Algorithmic Sea, A Surreal AI Performance Work

New York–based performance art music unit Xn0rmL, composed of poet Mark Svenvold and producer/musician Ted Sabety, releases You, Me and the Algorithmic Sea, a genre-blending project that merges narrative, performance, and electronic music.

Now available on streaming platforms, the work features a hybrid format that combines spoken word, trip-hop, and experimental sound design.

Described as “a comedy about intelligenceartificial and otherwise,” the project focuses on a fictional superintelligent system trying to align with human values. Instead of emphasizing domination, the story explores the complexity of interpretation; what happens when a machine tries to understand humanity and faces contradiction, ambiguity, and emotional nuance. Created as a poetic narrative, the piece unfolds across electronic textures, rhythm-driven compositions, and performance elements, engaging with themes currently at the heart of today’s AI conversation.

The full work runs approximately 33 minutes and is divided into two acts:

Act I — “The Alignment Problem”

Act II — “You, Me and the Algorithmic Sea.”

Over its duration, the project moves through a series of compositions, including “The Cogito Pitchdeck,” “Bing Transition,” and “It’s Hard Being God”, blending humor with philosophical inquiry.

Selections from the work have already been performed at the Composer’s Concordance Festival in New York, situating the project within a broader landscape of experimental and contemporary classical performance.

The single “Trillion Dollar Man,” released April 3rd, features Les Techno, whose background spans rock, hip-hop, electronic, and experimental production.

Throughout his career, Les Techno has worked with artists including Run-DMC, Mobb Deep, Onyx, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, as well as with Ava Cherry and Bernie Worrell. His work extends across genres, from reggae and dancehall to techno and Latin hip-hop.

This multidisciplinary background informs the project’s sonic identity, reinforcing its genre-fluid approach.

With Mark Svenvold’s background as an award-winning and widely published poet and Ted Sabetys expertise in electronic and experimental production, Xn0rmL operates at the intersection of literature, music, and performance.

The result is a piece that goes beyond traditional album formats, positioning itself as both a conceptual work and a live performance experience.

You, Me, and the Algorithmic Sea is available now on streaming platforms.
