Baldy Crawlers Release “On Those Who Starve Children,” A Stark and Unflinching New Single

Baldy Crawlers, the project led by Martin Maudal, return with “On Those Who Starve Children,” a new single shaped by themes of moral urgency and human consequence.

The track arrives as a direct and emotionally charged piece, confronting systems of violence and the impact of deprivation on vulnerable populations.

Blending elements of soul, folk, and rock, “On Those Who Starve Children” pairs restrained instrumentation with a stark lyrical approach.

The song draws from traditions associated with artists such as Bob Dylan and Tom Waits, using simplicity as a vehicle for intensity. Vocals by Elizabeth Hangan bring a haunting presence to the track, reinforcing its emotional gravity.

Rather than positioning itself solely as commentary, the track places the listener in a moral confrontation, exploring accountability, complicity, and the psychological weight of injustice.

Its structure and tone emphasize reflection over resolution, allowing the message to unfold through atmosphere and narrative.

Recorded earlier this year, the single was co-produced by Barry Wood and engineered by Jon Crawford at Village Tracks. The production remains intentionally understated, allowing the songwriting and vocal performance to carry the full emotional weight of the piece.

Based in the foothills of Mount Baldy, California, Martin Maudal developed Baldy Crawlers as an extension of his work as a luthier and musician.

A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Maudal initially began by crafting instruments before expanding into songwriting and recording, shaping a project rooted in storytelling and raw expression.

Following earlier releases such as The Fetished Heart. (2023), Baldy Crawlers continue to explore themes of human experience through a blend of folk, soul, and rock influences.
