Composer Simon Franglen Returns to Pandora with His Most Ambitious Score Yet

Hollywood Records and 20th Century Studios have announced the arrival of the highly anticipated Avatar: Fire and Ash – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, a monumental 37-track collection featuring more than three hours of original music by GRAMMY®-winning composer Simon Franglen (Avatar: The Way of Water, The Magnificent Seven). The album also includes the original song “Dream As One,” performed by Miley Cyrus.
Set for release on vinyl on January 30, 2026 (pre-order here), the soundtrack pushes the boundaries of the Avatar musical universe with expansive new themes, innovative textures, and cutting-edge electronica that deepen the emotional and sonic landscape of Pandora. Reflecting on the creative journey behind the score, Franglen shared the immense undertaking required to bring the film’s music to life:
“Looking back at the 1900 pages of score I wrote for Avatar: Fire and Ash, it has undoubtedly been the most challenging project I’ve ever worked on; I’m incredibly proud of this score. The sheer scale of this film has demanded everything from six-minute operatic epics to the creation of instruments for another planet. Throughout it all runs is a strong thematic core. I’ve always believed in the power of music - and themes - to be the heartbeat of a film, and I hope that comes through when you listen.”
Franglen’s return to the world of Pandora follows his acclaimed work on Avatar: The Way of Water, which earned him the 2023 World Soundtrack Award and achieved over 750 million global streams. His ability to blend epic scope with intimate emotional detail has made him a defining musical voice within the franchise.
A New Chapter on Pandora
Directed by James Cameron, Avatar: Fire and Ash reunites audiences with Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and the Sully family as they embark on a breathtaking new adventure. The film features a screenplay by James Cameron, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver, with a story by Cameron, Jaffa, Silver, Josh Friedman, and Shane Salerno. The star-studded cast includes Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Oona Chaplin, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, David Thewlis, Giovanni Ribisi, and many more.
The original song “Dream As One”, written by Miley Cyrus, Andrew Wyatt, Mark Ronson, and Simon Franglen, was released November 14th and gives fans a first emotional glimpse into the film’s musical world.
Avatar: Fire and Ash opens exclusively in theaters worldwide on December 19th.
