Max Aruj Releases Man on Fire (Score from the Netflix Series)

Composer Max Aruj releases Man on Fire (Score from the Netflix Series), now available alongside the show’s premiere on Netflix. Blending large-scale orchestration with regional influences, the score delivers a gripping and emotionally charged sonic landscape. Aruj blends propulsive action writing with a deeply human core, crafting a distinct musical identity developed over six months.

Across the series, Max Aruj balances kinetic, high-intensity compositions with more restrained, emotionally driven passages. The score integrates Brazilian-inspired textures through collaborations with vocalist Maroka Paris and percussionist Ayuri Olivera, merging these elements with Western orchestral arrangements.

Recorded in part with orchestra sessions in Budapest, the music reflects a combination of precision and atmosphere, with Episode 7 standing out for its continuous, “wall-to-wall” musical structure.

Reflecting on the process, Max Aruj shares:

“Composing the score for Man on Fire was an absolute joy… I dove head first into the rich musical culture of Brazilian music and drew heavily on its influences to create a score that I hope will stick with listeners as they follow John Creasy through his journey of loss, trauma, sacrifice, and redemption.”

Based on the novels by A.J. Quinnell, Man on Fire follows John Creasy, a former Special Forces operative navigating trauma and redemption.

The series stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, alongside Alice Braga, Scoot McNairy, Bobby Cannavale, and Paul Ben-Victor.

Los Angeles-based composer Max Aruj has built a career across film, television, and interactive media, contributing to large-scale productions including Top Gun: Maverick, Mission: Impossible Fallout, and Black Widow.

He has also worked alongside composers such as Hans Zimmer, Lorne Balfe, and Rupert Gregson-Williams, contributing additional music and arrangements to major studio releases.

His broader credits include projects such as The Crown, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, spanning cinematic, television, and gaming formats.
