Scott Fisher returns with “A Billion Suns,” the title track and final single from his forthcoming album, set for release on May 22. The new track arrives as a reflective, emotionally grounded piece that expands on Fisher’s blend of jazz, rock, and indie influences.
“A Billion Suns” explores themes of loss, time, and emotional endurance, centering on the experience of watching a loved one gradually fade.
Built around layered piano textures, jazz-influenced guitar work, and melodic basslines, the track balances intimacy with a broader, atmospheric sound.
Speaking on the song, Scott Fisher explains:

“Lyrically, the theme explores losing someone slowly… it’s about coming to grips with watching one of the most influential people in your life fade away… music is simply my way of processing those feelings.”
Recorded at East West Studios, the track features a lineup of established musicians, including Tim Lefebvre (known for his work with David Bowie, Sting, and The Black Crowes) on the bass, and Joey Waronker (whose credits include Thom Yorke, Beck, Oasis, and Roger Waters) on drums.
Together, the arrangement leans into a more indie-rock-forward direction while maintaining the nuanced musicianship that defines Fisher’s work.

With a career spanning over two decades, Scott Fisher has developed a genre-blending sound shaped by jazz, classical, and contemporary influences.
Originally from Portland, Oregon, and now based in Los Angeles, Fisher has worked across both live performance and composition, contributing music to television series including Shameless, Parks and Recreation, Better Call Saul, Raising Hope, Gossip Girl, and The Good Doctor.
His musical foundation began with classical piano studies under Ilse Glassel, later expanding into a wider range of styles, including bossa nova and indie pop.
Over the years, he has shared stages with artists such as Brandi Carlile, Augustana, and Pink Martini.
“A Billion Suns” sets the tone for the upcoming album, offering a more introspective entry point into Fisher’s evolving sound.
The full record arrives on May 22.
